My Space/ Our Place Photography Workshops
Commissioned by Gallery of Modern Art, Queensland (2015).
In 2015 the Gallery of Modern Art commissioned a two-week regional and rural photography workshop tour in eight Queensland towns. Over the course of the program, both school and public workshops were held to engage people with photography, using their local environments as their subjects.
Aims:
Engage Queensland regional and rural communities with creative experiences
Promote personal and creative interest in local environments
Promote photography as an accessible practice to people in regional and rural Queensland
Promote and encourage creative practice
Provide photography education in regional and rural areas of Queensland
Encourage students to consider photography for their visual arts classes
Outcomes:
Enjoyable creative exercises for people in regional and rural areas of Queensland
Production of the photographic archive of Queensland regional and rural towns
Workshop participants taking pride in their local environments
Showcasing the creativity of people in regional and rural areas of Queensland
Build individual confidence and communication skills
