Gerehu Community Arts Workshop

Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea (2010)

The Gerehu Community Arts Workshop took place in 2010, facilitated by the University of Papua New Guinea with international artists George Athanasopoulos and Sean Davey. The community workshop took place over two weeks and involved over 100 local participants, mainly young people under 25 years old.

The aim of the Gerehu Community Arts Workshop was to engage local youths with creative experiences in music, art, photography and creative writing. Like the 8 Mile Community Arts Workshop that preceded it, this workshop had fantastic personal and artistic outcomes, including personal photographs, stories, songs and artworks.

Participants of this program were encouraged to express themselves through various mediums, building self-confidence and personal communication skills.
